We have had many of you writing into us after we spoke about the prices around plastics surgery, in particular the chin augmentation cost which we focused on during that piece. Many of you want to know why exactly plastic surgery costs range so wildly and that is something we want to get stuck into today. This is a topic which confuses many and it is tough to know whether a higher price means a better service or not. The truth is that the most expensive surgery most certainly doesn’t mean that it will be the best that you can find, which is why it is necessary that you understand the factors which go into the pricing structure at a plastic surgeon clinic.
If you are on the lookout for a great plastic surgeon to perform your procedure, here is why prices vary wildly.
The first point to mention here is that the role of a plastic surgery clinic is that it is a business. Whilst whilst many specialists in plastics will work in a hospital setting with burn victims and other patients, those working in a private clinic are there to make money, which is why we see such a wild swing in terms of pricing.
As you can imagine, the experience of the surgeon is a critical factor in how they price up their work, and a surgeon with 20 years of experience is always going to be able to charge more than someone who is fresh out of medical school. So much of the training which plastics go through is on the job rather than in the classroom and someone with more experience will have seen more things go wrong and found ways to mitigate or to fix them when they do. Experience is certainly something which plays a big part in the pricing of a service or procedure.
Going to get some botox in a posh neighborhood versus a not-so-posh neighborhood is also going to have a difference in price, even though they are probably using the same products. This occurs because of two reasons, firstly the status of working in such an area, and knowing that the residents would pay the money, and the second is that rental prices are likely to be significantly higher and so they need to make more in order to cover the higher priced overheads.
Finally we have the reputation of the surgeon who is carrying out the procedures, if they have been working with high profile individuals for example, then they are going to bump up their prices. The higher the status and the better the reputation, the bigger a price the surgeon can put on their services.
As you can see there are a lot of factors which you will have to consider when it comes to finding the right surgeon for your budget.
