Climate change and the importance of protecting and helping to improve our environment is a very hot topic at the moment, and if things continue then it will be a hot topic for many decades to come. Unless you have been living under a rock you will have seen the huge climate change protests which have been happening, the impact of a young lady named Greta Thunberg and the damage which has been done of late to the Amazon Rainforest. There are things that we can do to help, you just need the desire to do so.
Charity Support
Since I have been working for the American Fundraising Foundation I have noticed just how much impact charities can have on issues around the world. If nothing else you can support charities which are seeking to plant more trees, to lobby governments, to support those most at risk and generally to help make the world a better place. A simple monthly donation can go a long way to helping these charities fight for their causes and reach their goals.
Energy Saving
Saving energy in the home is not difficult and most of it comes down to that realization which we must all make when turning on the tap, or the light or the heating, that the more we use the more damage that we are doing. IF we are all being honest we take these things for granted and that is why we are not careful with our energy use. The damage which awe are doing however has the potential of not being fixable which means we all need to be smarter in the home with how we use energy. Switch off lights, use heating sparingly, switch to energy saving appliances and light bulbs, these can all help. Energy saving will also help you to lower your monthly bills, giving you more cash to donate to these amazing environmental causes around the world.
Talk About It
Talking about climate change is important as you can inspire others to make changes in their lives which also support the environment. This article here is me talking about it and hopefully inspiring people to change their ways.
Leave the Car
If you don’t have to use your car then don’t, take the bike, walk or use public transport in order to minimize the impact which vehicles have on our environment. These vehicles release noxious gases and the truth is that they are very rarely an absolute necessity, there are always other ways of getting from A to B.
Eating Local
Eating locally sourced foods means that we can reduce the demand of foods from all over the world, reducing how far food travels and lowering the damage which is being done by air transportation of these foods. The more people that do it, the bigger difference it will make to the environment and the more support we can give to our local producers.
