Exercise has always been stereotyped as a monotonous and boring. Whilst this can sometimes be the case, it doesn’t always have to be. Exercising isn’t just about circuit training or weightlifting, and whilst some people enjoy that, it isn’t for everyone. We were lucky enough recently to be part of an amazing webinar with fitness expert and online fitness instructor Charles D’Angelo, who gave us some great tips for spicing up your exercises. Below I have included some of them and have pointed out ways in which you can make weight loss fun.
Integrating Your Interests
As previously mentioned, working out doesn’t have to be something that you hate to do. A good way to start enjoying exercise is by integrating your interests. A lot of people love watching their favorite sports team or athlete on a weekly bases, if you are interested in a particular sport, why not give it a go? It doesn’t have to be competitive, try organizing some games with friends or family. If you are a music person, why not take up dance?
Entertainment
You don’t have to take up a specific form of exercise to make it fun. If you want to stick to conventional form of exercise, try listening to a podcast/audiobook. Whilst music works for a lot of people, listening to a podcast/audiobook makes the time fly over. You don’t always have to enjoy the exercise you are doing but you can enjoy what you are doing whilst exercising. If you have access to equipment at home, why not catch up on TV? Using entertainment whilst exercising is a good way to take your mind off the physical work you are doing and this can massively improve your productivity.
Friendly Competition
A common theme that is taking over the fitness world at the moment is friendly competition with friends. Whether the winner gets a trophy, a round of drinks of simply just a pat on the back, this can make working out fun as you try to best your friends. A great way of doing this is using apps that track your steps or calories burned. You can join this app with all of your friends and see their information so you can stay motivated by competing. Let the best person win!
Vlogs
Recording regular Vlogs of your workouts and challenges is a fun way to log your progress and show your friends and family. Try to mix it up and try different challenges, try celebrity workouts or viral workout videos. Record your reaction and thoughts and who knows you may even go viral yourself.
Remember to Have Fun!
If you aren’t enjoying working out, you aren’t doing what is right for you. You need to establish ways to make working out fun for you. Don’t take yourself too seriously, you don’t need to put any form of stress on yourself. Remember to always have fun and remember you are working out to improve yourself. Stay motivated, enjoy yourself and you will reap the rewards.
